As we explore the citadel amidst fascinating legends of Rani Padmini’s astounding beauty, how its people chose death before dishonor- the men donning saffron martyrs’ robes and riding out from the fort to certain death, while the women and children immolated themselves on huge funeral pyres – we discern why Chittorgarh is a paragon of pride, romance and a fiercely independent spirit of the Rajput rulers in Mewar and their kinsmen.

The hill fort complex is massive, with seven colossal gates, over 60 medieval structures which includes four palace complexes and 19 temples.
